Back to work!

It’s been a while since I made a new submission, partly because I was waiting for inspiration to review my letter and synopsis and partly because dearest George (one of my principal characters in the books) was ill again, and nursing him took time.  He died on 17th May and I have been quite upset… and still somewhat depressed at losing him.  But that’s grieving for you.

I was lucky enough to be at a conference a couple of weeks ago (on a completely different subject) and talking to a publisher of magazines and journals.  I confessed I was writing stories and we had a lovely chat which encouraged me to keep going.  Thank you Deborah!

And today I put together another submission pack and sent it off.  Maybe this will be the one.  I say that every time… but it might!

  1. Some agent somewhere is smart to enough to appreciate your stories. I suppose it just takes time and perseverance.

I’m still depressed and angry about Mariusz’s death, five months later. I cry over him at least once a day. I don’t think there’s anything you can do but just experience it.

This morning, I was looking at G’s photo on the piggie blog and getting teary-eyed. What a handsome, happy, affectionate boy he was.

The great thing about your stories is that George, Mariusz, and the rest of them can live forever — firstly because the stories, once written, have permanence in themselves, and secondly because you as the author can keep the characters in the action as long as you like. Even when the characters do pass, as Mariusz did, they can always come back through the handy vehicle of the time tunnel. Convenient. 😀
