~~~
So here we are, right at the end of Summer 2013, and what have I read?  Quite a lot, as it happens, as although I spent July working on the next book in the series at Camp NaNoWriMo, I slipped in a few lazy days reading short books, as well as settling down with a couple of others on train journeys.
You can catch up with my reviews of:
Return to Cardamom
The Fallen Pharaoh
Flidderbugs
The Hobbit
The Time Travel Storm
Beau Geste (abridged for older children)
Shirley Link and the Safe Case
The Princess and the Goblin
The Shadow of Atlantis
Seed Savers: Treasure
Trapped in Gondwana
Which did I like best?  Too difficult to say!  I met old friends, new friends, second adventures of recently made good friends…  I think I’ll be reading more books from most of the authors.  What was your favourite read this summer?
My Giveaway!
I’m giving away one copy of the Princelings trilogy in paperback, anywhere in the world!  That’s the three Princelings stories: the Princelings of the East, the Princelings and the Pirates, and the Princelings and the Lost City, all in one paperback volume, complete with chapter illustrations and original covers. I have some other goodies as prizes to throw in, too.
Just click on the cover of the trilogy below and you’ll be taken to the rafflecopter form.  Before you do that, you might like to Sign up to Follow this blog by email, since that is the first thing you need to do in order to enter the Giveaway.  The button to do that is on the right hand side of the page, just below the book covers.   1. Hey Jemima….. Great post. There’s plenty of books in your reviews that are on my to-read and read lists. The Flidderbugs book cover looks great.
  2. Thank you so much for opening this to international!!
    • I can see I’m going to get a lot of new books on my list these two weeks! Thanks for visiting, Ana 🙂
  4. Favorite read of the summer? Definitely The Phantom Tollbooth which I FINALLY read for the first time.
    Assistant to Stanley & Katrina
    • Ah-ha! Another great recommendation. I’ve just read Flood and Fang by Marcus Sedgwick – review in a week or so.
  5. The best book that I read this summer was Down a Lost Road by J. Leigh Bralik. It was so good I immediately purchased the other two books in the series, Subverter and Prism. Technically it is a teen series but these are definitely some of the best books I have ever read.
    • I don’t think I’ve reread the early ones since the last one came out. I wonder how much difference it makes, knowing the end. I couldn’t wait for the next one in the series, and spent ages trying to work out what was going to happen. Got half of it wrong, of course!
  8. I am sorry but I don’t have a favorite read. I don’t have time to read. I try to win books for my friends so they can.
  9. Thanks for taking part in the Hop Jemima! Hope the giveaway is going well! 🙂 I’ll tweet about it! 🙂
