I spend a lot of time on Goodreads. It’s a great place to talk about books, keep lists of what you’ve read and liked, review things you’ve read and read other people’s reviews. It also has some nice forums (e.g. the Great Middle Grade Reads forum) and lots of useful things to help authors put […]
As if it wasn’t enough to be doing the Kid Lit Blog Hop, the A to Z April Blog Challenge, the pre-1960s Children’s Classic Reading Challege, and the Goodreads Reading Challenge (not hard), I’ve signed up for another one. The 2013 YA & MG Time Travel Reading Challenge!
I’m managing to combine two challenges for 2013 by setting myself a target for the number of books read AND taking the Pre-1960 Classic Children’s book challenge. You have to read (and hopefully review, but that’s not essential) one book a month, and that will count towards my Goodreads tally as well.
Well, the Giveaway of the Princelings Trilogy is over and I’m very pleased with the results. I thought maybe 400 people would enter and 884 did! I made sure that people realised it was about guinea pigs right on the very front clip so they could skip if they wanted. It just shows that I […]
Yes, we all do them, and how many times are they the same as last year? Eat less and take more exercise seem to be my perennial ones. I ought to be a stick insect, but I’m not. This year I’ve given some thought to what I should be doing and I’m committing to them […]
The Traveler in Black and White by Jemima Pett My rating: 5 of 5 stars My fourth book, and of course I think it’s even better than the first three! This book followed hard on the heels of the Trilogy as I realised that having made my dear Hugo (my third guinea pig, adopted with […]
I’ve just been looking at (and voting for) the first cut of the nominations for the Goodreads Choice Awards for 2012. I added a number of books that I’ve read and reviewed that qualified, and was surprised that some didn’t, among them The Princelings of the East. I published it two days too early to […]
I’ve not been writing book reviews for long. If you find my first one on this blog, well that’s about as long as I’ve been writing them! So I’m still learning. I read other people’s reviews as much for they way they say things about what they’ve read as what they’ve said about them.
I had a surprise this morning. I have ‘won’ a giveaway copy of The Airmen (Part One: The Pirates of Aireon) by R J Ashby in a Goodreads Giveaway. Basically you put your name down against any of the books on the list; they are trying to get early reviews once launched. There were nearly […]
I joined Goodreads.com yesterday and was pleased to find Princelings of the East already listed. So I made an author page which then in turn gets links to this blog and to my Twitter account. And people can review and comment on the books.
